Value engineering typically results in design improvements along with reductions in the initial costs and long term operating costs. In a recent State of Washington analysis, the average cost for value engineering studies was less than twenty cents per square foot and resulted in a savings of roughly five dollars per square foot.

City of Richland Shops - Richland, Washington
Value-Engineering Review of Proposed Design to House the City Of Richland's Operating Divisions. These Include Public Utility, Industrial and Municipal Services, Fleet and Equipment Maintenance, and Purchasing and Warehousing Processes. This effort resulted in$4.8 million in cost reductions to the original design and the project proceeded to construction.

Bus Wash Equipment and associated utilities; Compressor/Lube Room equipment, drawings and utilities; Jib Crane equipment; Fuel Island equipment, drawings, utilities including Fuel Mgmt; General Equipment Drawings; Details and specifications between Equipment and Mechanical; Equipment List and Specifications

Washington State Liquor Control Board Distribution Center
Review and critique of sizing, material handling equipment choices, and operability of the system as designed, and consideration of the following questions:
- Is the material handling system design based on a sound assessment of needs?
- Is the design flexible and workable?
- Is the equipment chosen appropriate?
Pinnacle was then asked to provide an even greater in-depth review of the material handling systems design and it's constructibility.
Thereafter Pinnacle was asked to review the bid package submitted by the material handling systems design consultant for completeness and constructibility within the constraints of the State of Washington. The concern was whether the bid package would allow respondents to submit competitive and comparative proposals to the State. Pinnacle successfully completed the review identifying several areas where the bid package needed revision.
